Ripples is a voltage-controlled analog multimode filter with a smooth, liquid resonance and a sound inspired by classic Japanese synthesizers of the 1980s. From rounded bass lines and sweeping leads to resonant percussion and overdriven textures, Ripples brings expressive sound shaping to just 8HP of your Eurorack system.

The 2020 revision combines high-pass, band-pass, and low-pass outputs with two audio inputs, switchable filter slopes, and an internal VCA on the low-pass output. Keep your sound clean, add warmth with the input drive, or push the resonance into self-oscillation for another sound source in your rack.

Two complementary input paths give Ripples a wide range of character. Input 1 has an adjustable gain stage with soft clipping, letting you boost line-level sources or overdrive modular signals. Input 2 preserves the clean response of the original Ripples. Both inputs are mixed before filtering.

Switch the band-pass and low-pass responses between 2-pole and 4-pole operation to change the shape of your sound. Resonance compensation helps maintain perceived loudness as resonance increases, while self-oscillation produces a clean sine wave at the low-pass output.

Dedicated voltage control over cutoff, resonance, and low-pass output level makes Ripples easy to bring to life with envelopes and LFOs. Explore audio-rate modulation for more complex timbres, or use the internal VCA to shape a complete subtractive voice with fewer modules.
